How can current laws be amended or new laws enacted?
To have a current law amended or to enact new laws, individuals need to contact their County Council representative. If the Council Member wants to pursue the amendment or the new law, they contact the County Counselor’s office and request a bill be drafted for introduction at a council meeting. After the second meeting, the bill would be up for final passage. The Council can either vote on the bill or table it for further discussion and/or investigation. To contact your Council Member, please see the County Council directory or call 636-949-7530.
