Hurry! Commemorative Total Eclipse Shirts Selling Fast!Commemorative T-shirts for our Total Eclipse in the Park celebrations on Aug. 21 are available to purchase through July 23! A limited supply is available for purchase on the day of the event, so pre-ordering is advised. The shirts are 100 percent cotton and are available in youth sizes - small through XL, and adult sizes - small - 3X. Cost is $10 with the exception of 2X and 3X, which are $12. Orders can be picked up, Aug. 14-20, at the Youth Activity Park, 7801 Highway N, Dardenne Prairie, MO 63368. To place an order, call the Parks Department at 636-949-7535. The celebrations will be held at Klondike, Broemmelsiek and Quail Ridge parks. Reservations still are available for Quail Ridge Park in Wentzville, but the park is filling up quickly! Reservations for the other parks are filled. Each park is limited to 1,000 guests. These exciting events feature entertainment and food trucks, and each guest receives commemorative eclipse glasses for safe viewing. The parks are among the best places in the country to view this totally astronomical event.

Kids: Make County Parks Your Summer QuestAre you ready for a summer adventure exploring your St. Charles County Parks and sharing selfies along the way? Then join us in Parks Quest and play along for a chance to win prizes. Children in kindergarten through 12th grades are invited to share their summer park adventures on Instagram. It's easy! All you have to do is visit six or more St. Charles County Parks and post your videos and photos, including a selfie at the entrance sign of each park, with #SCCMOParksQuest. The adventure runs now through Aug. 15. One lucky participant wins the Grand Prize: an Extreme Adventure party for 15 guests and Cecil Whittaker's Pizza at the Youth Activity Park in Dardenne Prairie! Prize winners will be notified by Aug. 31, 2017. Volunteers Needed for Summer Community Service ProjectThe Parks Department is looking for volunteers to help clear invasive Bush Honeysuckle and large flood debris from Bangert Island, 1704 South River Road in St. Charles. The volunteer project, which is being led by our Park Natural Resource team, is from 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, July 13. Volunteers need to wear gloves and bring a pair of loppers or a small hand saw with them to the event. There are a limited number of tools to use on site. Fun for FREE in YOUR St. Charles County Parks Looking for something to do that's entertaining AND free? Join us for free Public Stargazing, Movies in the Park, live music, Artisan in Residence events, and hiking programs! Stargazing: Every Friday night (weather permitting), join members of the Astronomical Society of Eastern Missouri (ASEM) at the Astronomy Viewing Area at Broemmelsiek Park to view stars and constellations in the sky at our Friday Night Public Stargazing program. Advance registration is requested for large groups. To learn more about the stargazing program, visit www.asemonline.org. Movies: Watch the stars perform under the stars on a giant outdoor inflatable screen at our family friendly Movie in the Park series at the Heritage Museum. Live Music: Enjoy live music and your favorite food truck vendors at the Heritage Museum on Aug. 26 and Sept. 23. Festivities for our Music and Food Truck Nights kick off at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. (The music is free, but there is a charge for food). Bring the family - and the neighbors - to the Museum grounds for a relaxing evening of good food and great entertainment. Art Forms: Learn arts and crafts of the frontier during our monthly Artisan in Residence programs at The Historic Daniel Boone Home near Defiance. Enjoy free lessons and demonstrations from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. On July 22, explore gunsmithing; on Aug. 26, herbs; Sept. 23, preserving and canning; and on Oct. 28, tinsmithing. For more information about the programs, call the park at 636-798-2237. Hiking: Registration now is available for our fall Hiking Series. Experience an adventure hiking through a St. Charles County Park, exploring the vast natural-surface trails as we look for signs of wildlife and identify local flora. Join us at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10 at Matson Hill Park near Defiance, and at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22 at Klondike Park near Augusta. Elvis is in the Park!Our new fall concert series starts off with memories of the King and continues with other shows you won't want to miss! Mark your calendar and join us for our new fall Concerts in the Park at the Youth Activity Park in Dardenne Prairie. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and relax while listening to popular tunes from accomplished musicians. Picnic baskets are welcome, however, no alcohol or glass containers are allowed in the park.
