St. Charles County, Missouri – Design the perfect Thanksgiving decoration or a home for feathered friends with the St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department! Adults and children ages 8 and up will make decorative gourd art from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Nov. 11, at Gourd Crafting: Painting and Birdhouses at The Historic Daniel Boone Home near Defiance.
In this new, hands-on program, participants will learn how to paint designs on gourds with skilled staff. The program will be held outdoors under The Grand Pavilion on the Boone Home property. Arrive early, and plan for at least an hour to paint a gourd and two hours to create a birdhouse.
The cost of the program is $5 per person. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Call 636-949-7535 or visit www.stccparks.org to register.
While visiting the park, take a guided tour of The Historic Daniel Boone Home. Tours are offered at the top of every hour - tickets for adults are $8, seniors $6, children ages 5-12 are $5, and active/retired military and children under 4 are free. There is no charge for self-guided tours of the village grounds.
