St. Charles County, Missouri –Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar has united with many community partners of educators, law enforcement, treatment providers and community leaders to create a coalition to CRUSH (Community Resources United to Stop Heroin) the heroin epidemic in our County. CRUSH will host a Teen Drug Summit on May 16, 2017 from 7:30am to 1:30 pm. The summit will be held at Hardin Middle School and will involve a comprehensive training effort for approximately 700 middle school youth.

The goal of the summit is to educate and empower our St. Charles County student about the dangers of heroin and equip students with the knowledge to stay drug free. The students are educated on addiction as well as legal ramifications of heroin use; hearing firsthand accounts from undercover drug enforcement detectives and from several individuals who are recovering from heroin addiction. The continuing message from prosecutors, drug task force officers, recovering addicts and community leaders is “Not Even Once.”

“One of the most effective ways to spread the message to our community’s teenagers about the dangers of heroin is to educate and empower student leaders to take the message back to their schools: heroin use is not okay.”

Many coalition members and local businesses helped sponsor the event including: St. Charles County Treatment Court, High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, DEA 360, Bridgeway Behavioral Health, Avertest, Preferred Family Health, NCADA. Thanks to all of our sponsors. To learn more about CRUSH visit our website at http://www.sccmo.org/1541/CRUSH
