St. Charles County, MO – Citizens of all ages are invited to get into the holiday spirit at December events hosted by the St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department:

• Step back in time to observe Christmas traditions of the past Dec. 2 - 3 and Dec. 9 – 10 at the annual Christmas Candlelight Tours at the Historic Daniel Boone Home at Lindenwood Park, 1868 Highway F in Defiance. The enchanting village, illuminated with thousands of lights, comes to life as guests experience the traditions of different cultures of the early 1800s frontier. Visitors can enjoy hot apple cider, traditional carolers, and more while strolling through the historic park. This year’s musical performances will be held inside the Old Peace Chapel and include selections by Chapel of the Lake Choir, Duchesne High School Royal Impressions Choir, Timberland High School Choir, Holt High School Chamber Choir, and St Peters Choral Society. Tickets are limited for this popular four-night event and pre-registration is suggested by calling 636-798-2005. Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Children under 4 are free. Online registration is available at www.stccparks.org.

• Enjoy free musical performances during Sounds of the Season from 1:30-5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Heritage Museum, 1630 Heritage Landing in St. Peters. The Greenleaf Singers kick off the event, followed by the St. Charles Community Singers, and the Nicole Jonas Group. Hot apple cider will be served and the first 50 guests receive a complimentary commemorative ornament.

While visiting the museum, guests are invited to take a free tour of the new exhibit, “Our Sporting Heritage.” The exhibit features a Marksman Hunting Simulator, which was donated to the Parks Department by August Busch III. This realistic hunting experience, one of only three in the United States, allows players to participate in a virtual duck hunt. The main exhibit showcases the history of hunting and fishing in St. Charles County and throughout the state. Another featured highlight of the exhibit is the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame; additional displays focus on amateur sports in the county.
