St. Charles County, Missouri – The winner of St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Paint Your County Parks art contest will be announced at a reception on Thursday, Nov. 12! Citizens of all ages are invited to attend the special event from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Foundry Art Centre, 520 North Main Center, St. Charles, MO 63301. Light refreshments will be served. Admission to the reception is free and open to the public.

The winner of the art contest will be revealed after juror and award-winning artist Lorraine McFarland reviews the paintings and makes a final decision. The first place winner will receive a $1,000 purchase prize for their work, and two honorable mentions will be awarded $250 each! All participants must be present to win. The winning artwork will be displayed at the County Parks Administration Office, located at 201 N. Second Street St. in St. Charles for all to see.

Guests attending the reception will have the opportunity to view the submitted artwork, talk to artists about their work, see the winning paintings, and purchase some of the art on display.

In addition to the painting contest winner, the winner of the “Take A Picture, It Last Longer” photo contest will also be announced. New to the program this year, participants were invited to visit all 11 St. Charles County Parks, take a picture of their favorite park scene, and send the photos to the Parks Department. The winner will be awarded a gift basket of goodies at the reception.
