St. Charles County, Missouri – The St. Charles County Assessor’s office will mail 44,661 notices on June 12, 2015, to notify taxpayers of changes to personal property assessments. Taxpayers who reported additional personal property or made corrections on their original assessment form this year will receive the “Personal Property Notice of Assessment Change” as part of County Assessor Scott Shipman’s approach to further involve taxpayers in the assessment process. The end goal is to make the entire assessment process less burdensome to the taxpayer.
“This notice alerts taxpayers of the change in their personal property assessment and allows time to appeal the value within the statutory appeal timeframe. Our intention is to help citizens avoid issues at the end of the year when they receive their tax bills. At that point, it is too late to appeal the assessed value,” said Shipman.
