St. Charles County, Missouri – The St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department will unveil the draft conceptual plan for the new park that will be located at Pitman Hill Road and Kisker Road, during an Open House on Monday, June 29, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the Kisker Road Library, located at 1000 Kisker Road, St. Charles, MO 63304. St. Charles County Park staff will be on hand to discuss the proposed concept that will be used to help develop the new parkland.

“The conceptual plan for the new park gives citizens an overview of development objectives, while taking into consideration the significant natural and cultural resources of the park site,” said St. Charles County Parks Director Bettie Yahn-Kramer.”

On July 17, 2014, St. Charles County announced the acquisition of this property, which is the former Sammelmann Farm and Homestead, as its newest proposed county park. The farm totals 116 acres and is bordered by Pitman Hill Road and Kisker Road in the Weldon Spring area. The Sammelmann Farm and Homestead is the sixth St. Charles County Park in reserve for future development, which increases the total land reserved for County parks to 3,156 acres.

Department staff also incorporated in the conceptual plan the public’s feedback that was received from a survey residents took in 2014 about the amenities they wanted to see in the park. The new park vision features many of those requests.

The St. Charles County Parks Department currently has 11 parks open to the public - Broemmelsiek Park (south of O'Fallon), College Meadows Park (on the campus of St. Charles Community College), County Heritage Museum at Heritage Park (in St. Peters), Hideaway Harbor Park (near Portage des Sioux), Indian Camp Creek Park (near Foristell), Bangert Island (in St. Charles), Klondike Park (in Augusta), Matson Hill Park (in Defiance), Quail Ridge Park (in Wentzville), Towne Park (north of Wentzville) and the Youth Activity Park (in Dardenne Prairie).
