ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MISSOURI- The Office of Prosecuting Attorney Joseph G. McCulloch announces that on May 16, 2023, Tiffany Kanzler, 29, of Florissant, plead guilty to Assault 2nd Degree of a Law Enforcement Officer; Resisting Arrest; Leaving the Scene of Accident and Property Damage 1st Degree and was sentenced on July 20, 2023, to 23 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Charges arose on the morning of January 5 when Officers assigned to the St. Charles County Multi-Jurisdictional Auto Theft Task Force initiated a traffic stop of a GMC Denali that was observed casing an area around Interstate 70 and Fifth Street. When officers approached the vehicle, the suspects refused to roll down their windows. Officers attempted to gain compliance from the suspects for over 25 minutes asking them to exit the vehicle. The female driver refused and said, “I’m not playing this game” and proceeded to accelerate and ram a St. Charles County police vehicle, and then struck a St. Charles County Sheriff’s Deputy who was awaiting prisoner transport, causing serious physical injury. The deputy was transported to a local hospital in serious, but stable condition. A search of the vehicle yielded over 40 fentanyl pills and a firearm.
The vehicle fled eastbound on Interstate 70 into St. Louis County and was disabled after striking a Cottleville Police Department patrol car at Route 141 at Ryder Trail.
Kanzler’s co-defendant, Aaron Walker, was found guilty by jury on August 24, 2022, for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Trafficking Drugs and was sentenced to 14 years in the Department of Corrections by the Honorable Deborah Alessi.
Kanzler was sentenced by the Honorable Michael Fagras.
