ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – The St. Charles County Department of Public Health has received shipment of the recently authorized Pfizer-BioNTech (Pfizer) and Moderna bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccinations. Appointments are now available for eligible individuals. Bivalent boosters target two strains of the virus that causes COVID — the original strain and two of the Omicron variants (BA.4 and BA.5), which are the current most widespread variants in the world.
To schedule a bivalent booster vaccination appointment with the Department of Public Health, visit https://sccmo.as.me/COVID6mos.
Eligible individuals for the bivalent booster include those who have completed their primary vaccination series or received a booster dose for the Pfizer, Moderna or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccines at least two months prior. The Pfizer booster is authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for individuals ages 12 and older, while the Moderna booster is authorized for those ages 18 and older. Eligible individuals may choose to receive either of these booster doses, regardless of which primary series or original booster dose they had previously.
Individuals ages 6 months and older who have not yet been vaccinated, or who have not completed their primary vaccination series, may continue to schedule appointments to receive the primary series of the Pfizer, Moderna, or Janssen vaccines. To schedule appointments for primary or booster doses, visit sccmo.org/COVIDVaccine.
