The Office of Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar announces that on January 5, 2022, Tiffany Kanzler, 28, of Florissant, was charged with Assault 1st Degree of a Law Enforcement Officer; Resisting Arrest; Trafficking Drugs 1st Degree and Property Damage 1st Degree. The co-Defendant Aaron Walker, 38, of St. Louis, was charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Charges arose on the morning of January 5 when Officers assigned to the St. Charles County Multi-jurisdictional Auto Theft Task Force initiated a traffic stop of a GMC Denali that was observed casing an area around Interstate 70 and Fifth Street. When officers approached the vehicle, the suspects refused to roll down their windows. Officers attempted to gain compliance from the suspects for over 25 minutes asking them to exit the vehicle. The female driver refused and said, “I’m not playing this game” and proceeded to accelerate and ram a St. Charles County police vehicle, and then struck a St. Charles County Sheriff’s Deputy who was awaiting prisoner transport, causing serious physical injury. The deputy was transported to a local hospital in serious, but stable condition. A search of the vehicle yielded over 40 fentanyl pills and a firearm.
The vehicle fled eastbound on Interstate 70 into St. Louis County and was disabled after striking a Cottleville Police Department patrol car at Route 141 at Ryder Trail.
“Our thoughts are with the Deputy injured in the line of duty and his family; we wish him a speedy recovery. This is another outstanding effort by the St. Charles County Auto Theft Task Force and the men and women of St. Charles County law enforcement.”
Both suspects are currently in custody with the St. Charles County Department of Corrections. Bond has been set at $2,000,000.00 for Kanzler and $1,000,000.00 for Walker. Both cash only, no 10%.
