New reasons for kids and families to love St. Charles County Parks are coming soon! Dynamic new playgrounds are in the works at Indian Camp Creek and Broemmelsiek parks.
Construction is in progress on a playground by the Lakeside Pavilion at Indian Camp Creek Park. The 13,000 sq. ft. area will feature two large climbing towers with bridges, a variety of climbers, swings, and a net climber/spinner on cushioned turf. It is expected to be completed by the end of August.
“Children will be begging their parents to take them to this destination playground,” says Ryan Graham, Director of Parks. “The creek at the entrance is such a popular area for families, so we’re excited to add this attraction to our offerings.”
Installation of the new playground at Broemmelsiek Park starts in August and is expected to be completed by the end of October. The 10,000 sq. ft. play area will be located between Shelters 3 and 4 and include net bridges and a ropes course, wiggle climber, swings, variety of slides, see-saw, and benches with shade canopies, also on cushioned turf.
“Broemmelsiek currently has a playground near the Hilltop Shelter, but this addition will help provide a place for children to play that is accessible to those using the shelters in the valley of the park,” Graham explains.
The playground at Indian Camp Creek is estimated at $750,000, and the playground at Broemmelsiek at $700,000. The construction is overseen by the St. Charles County Parks Department and funded through a local use tax with the sole purpose of park land acquisition, development, operations, and maintenance.
