St. Charles County, Missouri – The St. Charles County Highway Department is hosting an Informational Virtual Open House on proposed resurfacing and sidewalk improvements along Highway N from Motherhead Road to Mid Rivers Mall Drive. Residents may view plans and submit questions and comments online Nov. 2-11, 2020, at sccmo.org/HighwayNImprovements.
This project involves resurfacing Highway N from Motherhead Road to Mid Rivers Mall Drive and replacing the pedestrian path on the south side of the roadway with a concrete sidewalk that is Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant. Additional improvements include:
- Installing new pavement markings on Highway N.
- Modifying the location of the pedestrian push buttons along the south side of Highway N in front of Francis Howell Central High School.
- Reconstructing private and commercial building entrances along Highway N to comply with ADA standards.
The project is funded by the St. Charles County 1/2-cent Transportation Sales Tax, as well as the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Bartlett & West is serving as the design engineering consultant.
The estimated $1.1 million project is in the preliminary design stage. After the virtual open house, plans may be updated based on public feedback, and easement acquisition/negotiation is expected to begin in early 2021. It is anticipated that construction of the project will start in spring 2022.
