[ARCHIVED] St. Charles County Recorder of Deeds Expands Services to Offer Online Record Searches, Marriage...

August 28, 2020

St. Charles County, Missouri – The St. Charles County Recorder of Deeds has acquired new software through Fidlar Technologies that enables residents to view documents in real time, run more customized searches and apply for a marriage license online. Beginning Monday, Aug. 31, the software – Laredo, Tapestry and APEX – can be accessed through the County’s website at sccmo.org/RecorderofDeeds.

Laredo and Tapestry allow customers to search public records and documents such as land ownership, federal tax liens, and marriage licenses. Laredo is a paid subscription for users who consistently search document records. Tapestry is a pay-by-search platform designed for occasional users and grants access to search documents from other counties with the program. Individuals can use the programs from home, or they can conduct free searches at the Recorder of Deeds office in the Administration Building, 201 North Second St., and at the St. Charles County Historical Society, 101 South Main St., both in St. Charles. Copies from the Recorder of Deeds office are $1 per page.

Couples needing a marriage license will find working with APEX’s step-by-step online application process easy and brief. Once the application is filed, they need only to visit the County to show a government-issued ID, and then use a kiosk in the Administration Building lobby to verify their information, provide a digital signature and pick up their printed license. By starting the process online, customers will reduce the time spent in person.

“We are excited to provide this option to our customers so they can access records and documents from their own computers,” says Recorder of Deeds Mary Dempsey. “This software makes our processes more convenient, saves time, and provides a safer alternative, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those needing assistance with finding documents or applying for marriage licenses can always call our office to speak with someone who can assist them.”
