ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – The St. Charles County Department of Public Health and Frontier Health & Rehabilitation, St. Charles, confirmed today that two more employees have tested positive for COVID-19. To date, 10 staff members have tested positive for the virus and all 10 are being quarantined in their homes. The positive number of tests for residents remains at 42, of which five resulted in death.
“Frontier staff is working with us as we consult and advise them on the COVID situation there,” says Demetrius Cianci-Chapman, Director of the St. Charles County Department of Public Health. “Administration at Frontier has been very cooperative and I feel confident that they are doing everything they can to stop the spread of this disease in their facility.”
“We recognize the need to foster as much communication as possible between our staff, our residents and their families during this time when visits are not allowed,” said Craig Workman, spokesperson for Frontier Health & Rehabilitation. “This past week we began sending a twice-weekly e-newsletter with helpful information to all families that have provided us with an email address. We are using staff I-pads with FaceTime and staff cellphones to connect residents without phones to their families. We are also sharing ideas with our other facilities and exploring additional methods, technologies and activity projects to foster even more communications.”
Anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms such as dry cough and fever, should isolate themselves from others and call a healthcare provider. People who visited the facility but do not have symptoms do not need to self-quarantine unless they notice COVID-19 symptoms. If you have questions, call the St. Charles County Public Health Information Hotline from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily at 636-949-1899, or visit sccmo.org/COVID for more information.
