St. Charles County, Missouri – Winter is the perfect time to discover native woodpeckers and other birds in a St. Charles County Park. Join Ranger Abigail Chambers and St. Charles City-County Library staff from 1 - 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 15, for a Winter Woodpecker Walk and Pop-Up Library event at Veterans Tribute Park, 1031 Kisker Road in Weldon Spring.
Participants will be led on a ¾-mile leisurely storybook walk of “Sweep the Sun” by Helen Frost as they make their way around the two scenic lakes in the park. They’ll learn about bird attractants and the different feeders available. Afterward, they’ll be able to check out books about these fine feathered friends and can continue exploring the outer mile-long trail in the park. Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring a pair of binoculars; a limited supply will be available for use during the program.
This program is free and appropriate for all ages! For more information and to register, visit http://bit.ly/2019WinterWoodpeckerWalk or call the St. Charles County Park and Recreation Department at 636-949-7535.
