St. Charles County, Missouri – Learn about the history of slavery on the Missouri frontier with cultural preservationist and interpreter Angela da Silva as she performs “Lila, Life of a Missouri Slave” at 1:15 and 3:15 p.m. in the Old Peace Chapel at The Historic Daniel Boone Home, Feb. 17 and April 14. Admission is free.
This powerful presentation about a female slave living in the Montgomery County area is tragic, but is also a story of survival, strength, and success. da Silva portrays the life of “Lila” and how she took control of her future when her quest for freedom could no longer be ignored. da Silva’s performance is described as being compelling, captivating, and one not to miss.
Paid tours of the Daniel Boone home and village buildings on park property are also available at the top of every hour during “Lila’s” performances.
