St. Charles County, Missouri – Bring your pooch to the spacious 5-acre Off-Leash Dog Area at Broemmelsiek Park near Defiance/Wentzville from 6-8:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, for the St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department’s newest canine event, “Bark at the Moon!”
At this nighttime event for dogs and families, the Parks Department is teaming up with experts from the County’s Division of Humane Services to educate families. Pet microchipping will be available for a small fee and participants can talk with fellow pet lovers over a cup of hot chocolate.
The program is $1 per family of up to 10 members. Pre-registration is suggested by calling the parks department at 636-949-7535 or visiting http://bit.ly/BarkAtTheMoon2018. Children under the age of 8 will be allowed in the dog park for this event but must be supervised by an adult.
Please note: Participants must have their dogs properly licensed and immunized before entering the dog park. Aggressive dogs and puppies under four months old are not permitted. And participants must “Scoop the Poop” by cleaning up after their dogs with black clean-up bags located at pet waste stations in the dog park.
Voted “Best Of” by readers of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Go! Magazine List 2018 and a Riverfront Times Readers’ Choicewinner in 2011, the Broemmelsiek Park Off-Leash Dog Area is a popular place for dogs to play year-round. This beautifully manicured fenced area has a large pond with a dock, pavilion with benches, agility course and a water faucet.
Additional Off-Leash Dog Areas in the St. Charles County parks system include a 2.5-acre site at Quail Ridge Park near Wentzville and a 3-acre site at Veterans Tribute Park near Weldon Spring (opening Oct. 20, 2018). A large multi-acre dog park is being planned at The Park at New Melle Lakes near New Melle.
