St. Charles County, Missouri – Experience what life was like for Daniel Boone and his fellow frontier militiamen during Military History Weekend, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Saturday, June 30 and 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Sunday, July 1 at The Historic Daniel Boone Home near Defiance. Visitors will observe cannon and weapons demonstrations, military drills, mustering speeches, camp life, and more.
This two-day event showcases the evolution of the American military from early militia to the Civil War. A number of local and national militia units will be featured, including Milicia de San Carlos, 1st Reg’t of Foot, 2nd Missouri Artillery (June 30 only), Cartridge Factory and Museum – Civil War era, 18th Century Surgeon – Marshall Meadors, Lewis and Clark Fife and Drum Corps (June 30 only) and Ox Bow Tavern Living History Group.
Tickets for Military History Weekend are $5 and can be purchased in advance or at the park the days of the event. For more information or to register, call 636-949-7535 or visit stccparks.org. As part of the event admission fee, participants can also tour the Boone Home where Daniel lived in his last years and learn the history of this legendary folk hero.
