St. Charles County, Missouri – St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann has appointed Daniel Keen as Director of the St. Charles County Department of Corrections. Keen was confirmed by the St. Charles County Council at last night’s meeting and starts his new position on June 4.

“We are pleased to have someone of Dan’s caliber join our team,” says Ehlmann. “He has exceptional credentials, a proven track record of performance and extensive supervisory experience. Dan shares our philosophy of the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment for our inmates and employees.”

Keen has 18 years of progressive experience in managing correctional facilities. Most recently, he served as Director of Corrections for the Northampton County Department of Corrections in Easton, Pa., a facility with 267 staff members that holds up to 1,053 inmates. There, he was responsible for all administration, operations and maintenance of the county’s correctional facility, as well as safety, security, program development, policies, procedures and regulations, and the facility’s public communications.

Prior, Keen served as Warden for the Franklin County Jail in Chambersburg, Pa., and for the Bedford County Correctional Facility in Bedford, Pa. He began his career as a correctional officer in 2000 and has worked continuously in the corrections field since that time. He is a member of numerous related associations and presently is finishing a two-year term as President of the Pennsylvania Prison Warden’s Association.

In his new role, Keen will manage the St. Charles County Corrections Department’s facility and a staff of 170. He will oversee the department’s three divisions: Medical Services, Operations and Security and Support Services. The St. Charles County facility has the capacity for 506 inmates and houses federal and state prisoners, as well as those from local municipalities.
