If you haven’t already, I encourage you to read the article about St. Charles
County’s new Emergency Radio Communications System in the Fall 2013 edition of
the St. Charles County Connection
newsletter. I am so proud of this project because it will
improve the safety of our citizens. When the system is launched, first
responders across different departments will be able to communicate with each
other for the first time. The system will also dramatically improve radio
coverage across the county for our first responders. Together, these benefits
will make their response to all emergencies, from car accidents to natural
disasters, faster and more efficient. Our system is also part of a larger system
being implemented in St. Louis and Jefferson Counties, increasing the emergency
communications capability of the metropolitan St. Louis area.
Construction on the system’s 12-site tower
design is underway and several towers are already complete. Testing will take
place this coming spring and summer, with transfer to the new system is expected
to occur in August 2014. In addition to the newsletter article, I encourage you
to check out the Emergency Radio Communications
System page to learn more and for future
updates.
