[ARCHIVED] How Are We Doing?

Most Council member blogs share information about programs, services and events in St. Charles County. This one is a little different – it’s to let you know about an upcoming project on which I need assistance from YOU. As the representative for District 2 in the southwest part of the county, I’d like to hear not only from my constituents but everyone who wishes to weigh in about County ordinances and the services provided by St. Charles County Government.

What do you think of the services our departments provide, such as County Parks, Police, Highway, Community Development, Public Health, Emergency Communications, Collector of Revenue, Election Authority, and Assessor? What about our County ordinances? My district is mostly rural but is experiencing more growth, so I’m especially interested in how constituents feel about planning and zoning laws. Should zoning be changed to allow businesses to host more activities within the rural area, such as outdoor wedding venues and wineries? Should the rural area of St. Charles County maintain 5-acre lots instead of 3-acre lots? Should residents be allowed to shoot guns on less than 5 acres?

Receiving feedback helps the Council make decisions. Be on the lookout for a survey asking for your opinion on all of these matters. In the meantime, visit the Government tab on the website to refresh your knowledge and understanding of all the County departments, programs, and services provided, as well as our ordinances. And as always, if you have questions or comments at any time, please email Council@sccmo.org

Thank you in advance for your input and in taking time to make St. Charles County the best it can be for everyone.
