Local Highway, Route Construction Information from MoDOT
MoDOT will make repairs and replace about 100 feet of pavement on eastbound I-70, just west of Wentzville Parkway. Eastbound traffic will be restricted to one lane in this area at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, until 7 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 8.
Motorists traveling through the area could experience significant delays and should plan ahead. Local traffic should consider alternate routes.
MoDOT is planning to rehabilitate the eastbound portion of the Interstate 70 Blanchette Missouri River Bridge in 2020. This project is critical to help keep the bridge in good condition for another 20 years. A major rehab was completed in 2012 on the westbound portion of the bridge. The last major repairs completed on the eastbound bridge were joint replacements in 2006. The westbound bridge lanes are only being utilized during this construction to avoid a full-time closure to the eastbound portion of the bridge. Construction is set for 2020.
The eastbound bridge will be reduced to four lanes, but two lanes will crossover to the westbound river bridge (separated by a concrete barrier). The westbound bridge will be reduced to three lanes from Spring 2020 to Fall 2020.
Motorists are encouraged to use Route 370 and Route 364 as the main alternative routes. Drivers can also use Route 364 to Arena Parkway. The closest alternate to Fifth Street and I-70 is about a mile away at Route 94.
For more information on the project, visit the project website at www.modot.org/i-70-blanchette-bridge-project.
MoDOT reopened Route T between Route OO and Route M Nov. 15.
In Spring 2020, crews will begin widening and resurfacing pavement on Highway T from I-70 Outer Road to Route TT. Crews will also repair asphalt from Route TT to Route 94. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. Pay attention to message boards placed in the area. For real-time traffic, visit www.gatewayguide.com. All work is weather permitting and may be shifted due to inclement weather.
MoDOT is working to switch the westbound East Terra Lane traffic onto a new I-70 ramp. Construction will start July 1 as part of the final configuration of a major traffic flow improvement project. Traffic will move from the old East Terra Lane onto Highway K in one direction. Crews will be working to remove old East Terra and move the Fort Zumwalt North Middle School entrance onto the new ramp.
MoDOT crews will close one lane in each direction of Route 370 at Route 94 late Friday night, May 17. This work will begin impacting rush hour travel on Monday and commuters should plan for delays those times. One lane will remain closed around-the-clock until fall.
The work will be done in multiple stages, which will require the closed lane to shift every few weeks and lanes to be narrowed throughout the construction zone. There could also be additional overnight lane closures where only one lane of traffic is open. The lane closures are necessary so crews can rehabilitate the bridges over Route 94.
Starting today, the T.R. Hughes ramp to westbound I-70 will be closed. The ramp will be relocated as part of the I-70 improvement project going on between T.R. Hughes and Route K. The new, relocated ramp will reopen later this year. Drivers can detour around the ramp closure by either taking the I-70 North Outer Road (East Terra) to Route K or taking Mexico to Route K. Please allow extra time while using these detour routes as the extra traffic could cause delays.
