Field training officers have the dual responsibility of providing law enforcement service in their assigned patrol zones, as well as conducting training and evaluations for new officers.

The K-9 Unit is comprised of nationally certified commissioned dogs and their handlers with one supervisor. The unit utilizes Malinois, a Hanoverian Hound, German and Dutch Shepherds, German Short Hair Spaniels, and a Labrador Retriever for tracking, narcotics detection, apprehension purposes and Electronic Storage Detection (ESD). These canines reside in the homes of their handlers, who are assigned throughout the three patrol shifts working general patrol assignments in addition to their K-9 responsibilities. The members of this specialized unit are on-call 24 hours a day for special incidents, along with supporting surrounding law enforcement agencies. Throughout the year the unit is called upon for public events and school safety presentations. All K-9s are certified through the American Mantrailing, Police & Working Dog Association (AMPWDA)  and the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA).

Officers assigned to ride these motorcycles are required to graduate from an intense 40-hour police motorcycle school.

The Traffic Unit is comprised of officers assigned full-time to traffic enforcement and accident investigations. Each member of the unit is equipped with radar and Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) speed detection devices for traffic enforcement.
