The project is a cooperative effort between the St. Charles County Highway Department and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to facilitate traffic flow, improve safety, and provide pedestrian and bicycle access. The project includes:
New pavement, three lanes wide.
An oversized sidewalk / trail on both sides of the road.
A new traffic signal at the intersection of Gutermuth Road and Motherhead Road.
The project, funded by St. Charles County and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) with GBA, Inc., serving as engineering consultant, is estimated to cost approximately $3.4 million. Design and right-of-way acquisition is tentatively expected to be complete by early 2021 and construction is expected to begin soon after.

Project will likely consist of new pavement, three lanes wide, sidewalk on both sides of the road and enclosed drainage. The need for additional permanent traffic control (e.g. signal, roundabout) at the intersection of Gutermuth Road and Motherhead Road also will be evaluated as part of this project.
Right-of-way plans have been approved by MoDOT. Notice to Proceed with right-of-way acquisition has also been granted. Acquisition work has just started with some offers made at the end of February 2021. Construction would start no sooner than the end of 2021 if acquisition goes well.
