About the Park
Amenities
Veterans Tribute Park is the only County park of its kind surrounded by residential development in a suburban setting. There is something for everyone! The park officially opened on Oct. 20, 2018.
A destination playground for children of all abilities encompasses social/emotional, physical, sensory, cognitive, and communication development. The playground is divided into zones: interactive and motion-activated water play; music play; adventure play with climbing features; inclusive swings; and a hillside slide.
A walking and biking trail system spans 1.6 miles, wrapping through and around the park. Two lakes are stocked for catch-and-release fishing.Three non-reservable, open-play fields totaling 6 acres make perfect locations for pick-up games and activities.
A 3-acre off-leash dog park is divided into small and large dog areas. A raised boardwalk extends from the historic 1916 silo on the property and past the playground to allow beautiful views of the lakes through a canopy of trees.
The signature lakeside Sammelmann Shelter accommodates more than 100 guests, and two additional shelters accommodate 100 guests each.
Veterans Memorial Garden
Overlooking the park’s two lakes, the garden features a Veterans Memorial Plaza with the names of St. Charles County soldiers who died in service to our nation since World War I engraved on stone panels. A Tribute Walk leading up to the memorial showcases interpretive panels covering conflicts from the time St. Charles County was organized in 1812 to present day, along with plantings that bloom or have vibrant color at the end of each war.
The memorial opened in November 2019.
