St. Charles County, Missouri – St. Charles County has announced the debut of the #SCCMore Speaker Series! The series is designed to encourage residents to learn about programs and services provided by St. Charles County Government, and to “see more” of what the County has to offer. The series begins Sept. 19 with “Making Public Safety Personal.”

Speakers for the bi-monthly series are St. Charles County elected officials and County staff, who will address topics of interest to county residents. All programs are held from 7-8:30 p.m., at various libraries in the St. Charles City-County Library District.

Kicking off the series on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Library’s Spencer Road Branch, 427 Spencer Road in St. Peters, are Chief David Todd, St. Charles County Police Department, and Captain Chris Hunt, Director of Emergency Management.  Chief Todd will discuss the heroin epidemic/prescription drug abuse, general safety precautions and public services available through the Police Department. Captain Hunt will give an overview of the County’s Division of Emergency Management and talk about the new Emergency Operations Center under construction in O’Fallon. They will answer questions after the presentation.

On Tuesday, Nov. 21, County Assessor Scott Shipman and County Collector Michelle McBride will team up for “All You Need to Know about Assessments and Taxes.” Be sure to bring your questions and take advantage of this timely and informative discussion. The presentation is scheduled for the Library’s Deer Run Branch, 1300 North Main Street in O’Fallon.

The #SCCMore Speaker Series is free, but registration is requested. To register, call or email St. Charles County Community Relations Manager Molly Dempsey at 636-949-7900, ext. 3724 or mtdempsey@sccmo.org. For information on future #SCCMore Speaker Series programs, visit sccmo.org/SpeakerSeries.
