Local Highway, Route Construction and Closure Information from MoDOT
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will close access from Route 61 to Route P in St. Charles County for three months starting next week. In addition, traffic on northbound Route 61 will be shifted to allow crews to continue work on the new overpass being built on Route 61 between Route P and Peine Road.
Crews will close one lane of northbound Route 61 before Route P on Monday, April 30 at 8 p.m. When the lanes reopen at 5 a.m., traffic on northbound Route 61 will be shifted and drivers will no longer be able to access Route P. Drivers can take Grothe Road to Route P to detour around the closure.
The only exception is for the businesses at the intersection of Route P and Route 61. A temporary bypass from Route 61 will be open to access those locations only. There will be no access to Route P from the temporary bypass. The work is part of the project to add a new interchange on Route 61 between Route P and Peine Road. For more information on the project, visit the website below.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will close the exit from westbound I-70 to southbound Route 61/eastbound I-64 for more than a month starting Monday, April 16 at 9 a.m. and will remain closed for 42 days.
Drivers can detour around the closure by continuing on westbound I-70, exiting at Route Z and getting onto eastbound I-70. From there drivers will be able to exit onto southbound Route 61/eastbound I-64.
In addition to the ramp closure, one lane on the southbound Route 61 overpass will be closed throughout the project. The open lanes will be reduced to 10 feet. Please use caution when traveling through the narrowed lanes.
The ramp and lane closures are part of a larger project to repair and resurface the ramps and lanes at the I-64/I-70/Route 61 interchange. The project will be completed in fall 2018. For more information about the project, visit the website below.
